Marketing is a Team Sport: Why You Shouldn’t Go it Alone
Marketing – and this includes Social Media, E-Mail Marketing, Branding, Messaging, Promotional Events, Content Creation, Website development, SEO and more – is one field where the opinions of others matters. A marketing buddy is the way to set yourself up for success.
Here’s 3 ways that others can help your business succeed at marketing, and that means getting more leads coming in the door.
THE GRAMMAR POLICE
Anyone who knows me well knows that I am the resident Grammar Police (look for some upcoming #grammarpolice posts soon!). While there are mistakes occasionally for everyone, having another person around can help. Nothing says unprofessional like misspelled words, autocorrect fails, or a combination of words with an unintended meaning. Having a friend, coworker, family member, or marketing professional read through your content before publication can save the day.
After all, even the best of us overlooks a mistake now and then.
SPEAKING TO YOUR TARGET MARKET
Having someone who fits, or even closely fits, the profile of your perfect client can be invaluable. Look for people who are in the same generation, gender, even personality profile. We do an entire class about how to determine your perfect client in our Marketing 101 class because it’s that important. Getting someone who closely aligns with that person to look at your promotions and content can boost the success rate. Great marketing consultants are chameleons – modifying their voice and perspective to fit the target, not their own.
IDEA SHARING
Sometimes polling the audience is the way to get fresh ideas. If you’re DIYing your Marketing, talk to a friend or employee about what is going on in your business. If you’ve got a Marketing Consultant or Marketing Coach, then utilize their years of experience in order to brainstorm. Chances are, they’re brainstorming with their team to help your business grow as well.
